Open New York is a pro-housing, grassroots advocacy organization working to fix New York’s housing crisis. New York’s restrictive zoning laws have fueled record-high rents and the displacement of long-standing communities. For too long, wealthy neighborhoods have used these laws to block new housing, pushing growth into less-resourced areas. Open New York pushes back—we’ve won major victories in New York City, advanced affordable housing in high-opportunity neighborhoods, and shaped citywide and statewide reforms to tackle our severe shortage of homes. Our work has helped deliver landmark changes like the passage of “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity” and drive ambitious reforms across New York State. By opening all communities to more neighbors, we’re building a more affordable and equitable New York.
