Overview
Stanford University, recognized as one of the most prestigious and innovative academic institutions in the world, has an immediate opening for a Development and Communications Coordinator at the Haas Center for Public Service, a unit under the Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education. The Haas Center inspires Stanford to realize a just and sustainable world through service, scholarship, and community partnerships.

Reporting to the Communications Director, the Development and Communications Coordinator supports the External Relations team in implementing the center's communication strategy, donor stewardship, and operational functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong writing, editing, and design skills to develop expertise in nonprofit communications, donor stewardship, digital media, and higher education advancement.

Core Duties
- Assist and support in day-to-day activities for communication and donor stewardship deliverables for the Haas Center’s External Relations team.
- Assist in the production and timely distribution of content for students, donors, and other audiences.
- Assist in the development of fundraising and promotional materials using established templates and brand standards.
- Draft, edit, and proofread material for publications and other communication vehicles, adhering to deadlines.
- Perform routine website updates using the university’s content management system.
- Maintain donor and prospect records in the university's external relations database and run standard reports.
- Track department budgets, gift expenditures, and platform analytics and compile routine reports.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
- Occasional work on evenings and weekends.

In addition, preferred qualifications include:
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and/or Canva
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal)
- Experience with donor or CRM database systems (e.g., Salesforce, Advance)
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Emma)
- Basic photography skills
- Experience or interest in higher education, nonprofit organizations, or public service

Develop and/or participate in the development and execution of a unit's or program's communications strategy and deliverables in accordance with University Communications guidelines in one or more of the following areas: strategic communications, employee/internal communications, digital media, media relations, content strategy, marketing, identity, audience segmentation, measurement, and crisis communications.

  • Work in collaboration with Institutional Communicators on media relations content.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and/or project management and organizational skills.
  • May demonstrate proficiency and creative or technical ability in a particular field.
  • Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
