Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 (1 year fixed-term) to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments. The LSRP will work under general guidance from the Primary Investigator and senior lab members to support projects on protein engineering for infectious diseases.

Duties include:

• Independently conduct pseudovirus neutralization and ELISA experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.

• Maintain and passage mammalian cell culture under BSL-2 conditions

• Perform molecular biology experiments, including cloning and plasmid preparation.

• Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.

• Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with senior researcher.

• Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research.

• Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.

• Help with general lab maintenance as needed and provide general lab support as needed.

The budgeted pay range for this position is $32.86 to $40.51 per hour.

Stanford University provides pay ranges that reflect a good-faith estimate of what it expects to pay for a role. Actual pay depends on factors such as the candidate's experience, education, and skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related fields
• Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, including routine maintenance, passaging, and handling of cell lines under BSL-2 conditions.
• Demonstrated ability to perform and interpret the results from pseudovirus neutralization assays and ELISA.
• Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and plasmid preparation.
• Experience with quantitative data analysis and visualization with GraphPad Prism and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to maintain accurate experimental records and complete defined tasks with appropriate independence and timely escalation.
• Excellent communication and organization skills


Applying a comprehensive understanding for the theories and methods of a life science discipline, perform work directly involved in research projects, interpreting results and participation in experimental design.

Core Duties:

  • Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principals to problem solve work.

  • Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
