POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated Talent Acquisition Specialist to support ULI’s global recruitment efforts during an exciting period of organizational growth and transformation. Based in Washington, DC, this role plays a critical part in attracting and hiring top talent across a wide range of functions—from nonprofit leadership and marketing to research, fundraising, and member engagement.
Working closely with the Head of Talent Acquisition and hiring managers across the Institute, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will support full-cycle recruiting and operational excellence. This includes sourcing, screening, scheduling, and supporting hiring teams, while also contributing to continuous improvements in process efficiency, candidate experience, and employer branding.
This role is key to building consistent, equitable, and scalable recruitment practices that reflect and advance ULI’s mission and values.

The salary for this position ranges from $60,000 to $67,500. Actual compensation will be based on experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is part of ULI’s comprehensive compensation package, which includes competitive benefits.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and support full-cycle recruitment efforts across the organization, from job posting through offer acceptance.
- Conduct resume reviews and screening interviews for selected roles.
- Schedule and manage interviews across multiple time zones, ensuring clear communication and a positive candidate experience.
- Prepare offer letters and manage pre-employment steps, including reference checks and background verifications.
- Maintain data accuracy and compliance in the applicant tracking system (ATS), including timely status updates and documentation of hiring activities.
- Communicate and uphold ULI’s talent acquisition policies, promoting equity, consistency, and a positive hiring experience across all stages of the process.
- Identify and support process improvements that enhance hiring efficiency, compliance, and quality of hire.
OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support proactive sourcing and outreach for high-priority and hard-to-fill roles, with a focus on increasing diversity and representation.
- Contribute to employer branding initiatives through recruitment content, social media engagement, and external partnerships.
- Assist with special projects such as talent dashboards, intern program logistics, DEI hiring initiatives, and process documentation.
- Provide general support to the People Team as needed, including:
- Employee onboarding logistics
- Training coordination
- HR documentation upkeep
- Internal communications and survey distribution
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 1–2 years of experience in talent acquisition, HR coordination, or a related administrative or people-facing role.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, with a positive, approachable demeanor.
- Experience using an applicant tracking system (ATS) and comfort with scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to inclusive hiring practices and contributing to a strong, positive workplace culture.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience supporting recruitment in a nonprofit, membership-based, or mission-driven organization.
- Familiarity with sourcing strategies and tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, DEI-focused job boards).
- Experience working in global or multi-site recruitment environments.
- Interest in/or knowledge of real estate, land use, or urban planning sectors.
