Founded in 1936, we now have over 48,000 members worldwide, representing the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines working in private and public sectors.

With a regional headquarters in Hong Kong, ULI Asia Pacific has more than 3,000 members across Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea.

The region has an ambitious growth plan to expand this network, deepen member engagement, continue to provide a platform for the industry to accelerate the decarbonization of the built environment, inspire best practices for equitable and sustainable land use, and educate the next generation of diverse leaders.

To support this growth, ULI Asia Pacific is seeking an experienced, highly organised individual to lead a Marketing & Communications team for the region. The role will be critical in enhancing ULI’s visibility, strengthening its value proposition and brand awareness, and ultimately driving membership growth and retention, financial performance, and advancing mission impact.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director to lead and elevate our marketing and communications efforts across the Asia Pacific region. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for crafting and executing a comprehensive, multi-channel marketing strategy that aligns with our mission and long-term objectives—and that resonates across our diverse markets, currently spanning eight countries.

Your leadership will be essential in building brand recognition, driving engagement, and expanding our reach among current and prospective members in each market. Working closely with the regional and local leadership teams, you will bring strategic vision and creative direction to ensure ULI remains at the forefront of the built environment industry, delivering exceptional value to members and stakeholders alike.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Bring extensive experience in marketing, preferably with a strong understanding of the built environment or related sectors.
  • Be skilled in managing integrated, multi-channel campaigns—including digital, social media, content, and event marketing.
  • Possess a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the nuances of delivering a consistent brand experience across multiple markets.
  • Be a creative thinker with exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet regional objectives.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Reporting to the CEO of ULI Asia Pacific, this position acts as a strategic partner to the regional team to develop, organize and execute the marketing and communications strategy and plan aligned with the ULI Asia Pacific business plan and budget.
  • Lead an integrated marketing and communications team to deliver the business plan and priorities at a strategic level and respond to tactical requests across programmes, thought leadership, events, corporate development and membership teams.

Branding and Campaign Development

  • Curate and implement creative and dynamic marketing and communications strategies to promote ULI Asia Pacific’s annual flagship events, membership, signature research and publications, and regional programmes.
  • Develop regional campaigns that reflects cultural sensitivities, local governance, and media preferences for each market.
  • Collaborate with senior country leads to support the marketing of local conferences and major events in alignment with global and regional branding and messaging.

Content and Channel Management

  • Oversee all external content and communications channels, including the website, email marketing, and social media channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, WeChat, YouTube, Facebook, etc.
  • Create and maintain brand-aligned marketing collaterals, templates, and visual assets for the region and local councils.
  • Work closely with the Global Integrated Marketing team on international campaigns, brand consistency and alignment.

Performance and Innovation

  • Analyse campaign performance and use data-driven insights to optimise strategies and improve ROI.
  • Explore and implement new tools and technologies to enhance the ULI brand and engagement across the region.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing, communications and team management, with a track record of delivering creative strategies across multi-markets in the Asia Pacific region
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience in event, digital and content marketing, ideally in an international organisation using English as the primary language.
  • Proven ability to lead a remote marketing and communications team in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment, and to collaborate with remote and cross-functional teams across various time zones and cultures.
  • Strong budget management skills, with experience delivering cost-effective campaigns.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics to guide decision-making and strategy refinement.
  • Ideally, familiarity with the real estate industry and an understanding of the challenges facing the built environment.
  • Extensive experience with corporate communications, including editing, including speechwriting, and media releases.
  • Proficiency in social media management, website CMS, and digital marketing tools.
  • Knowledge of marketing analytics, PPC campaign management, and ad serving tools.
  • Based in Hong Kong SAR with the ability to travel occasionally.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is a plus.

EDUCATION:

A bachelor’s degree or higher degree in marketing, communications, or related subject. A master’s degree in a related discipline is a plus.
