Abundance Elected Network - Program Manager

Administration · Full-time

San Francisco, CA, USA · Remote

This role sits within the Abundance Elected Network (AEN), our national, nonpartisan network of local elected officials, mayors, council members, and county commissioners applying an Abundance methodology to local challenges. AEN runs a growing portfolio of programs, including peer learning working groups, an annual member convening, regional convenings, and a year-long fellowship for elected members, and we're adding a second Program Manager to help deliver a premium member experience as that portfolio and the network grows.

This role's specific program assignments within AEN will be determined as we finalize how we divide the portfolio across the Program Manager team, and may evolve over time.  What stays constant is the skill set: strong program design and execution skills, paired with dedicated event planning expertise.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Program delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery for an assigned set of Abundance Network programs, which may include onboarding cohorts, donor relationship management, regional events and/or other programming, from planning through execution and follow-up.

  • Manage donor relationships and presence through programming as outlined in sponsorship agreements

  • Manage the participant lifecycle: applications, onboarding, scheduling, 1:1 support requests, feedback loops, and post-program check-ins.

  • Build and refine new programs as our offerings evolve, bringing a test-learn-iterate mindset to a young and growing organization.

  • Deliver programs that advance our network goals and maturity model

Event & convening planning

  • Plan and execute in-person and virtual convenings, gatherings, and/or conferences for your programs, venue and vendor management, budgets, run-of-show, and on-site experience.

  • Build internal capacity for event agenda creation, design, and production. We are fans of Priya Parker’s “Art of Gathering” and want someone who approaches gathering intentionally.

Member & donor relationships

  • Serve as the day-to-day relationship owner for members and donors connected to your programs, building the trust and rapport that keeps them engaged, satisfied, and invested in Abundance Network.

  • Support donor stewardship and cultivation touchpoints (updates, event moments, follow-up) in partnership with leadership and development, ensuring no relationship falls through the cracks between higher-level partner conversations and day-to-day program delivery.

  • Ability to write concise, executive-level communications

Cross-functional partnership

  • Work closely with the other Program Manager and program leads to keep the member experience consistent and high-quality across all Abundance Network programs.

  • Coordinate with Marketing, membership, and leadership on shared initiatives, moderation of peer-network channels, and knowledge-base management.

Your Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in project or program management, ideally in lean, fast-moving environments where you're keeping multiple plates spinning and looking around corners at what's ahead.

  • Event or convening planning experience: you've owned logistics for an in-person gathering or conference from concept through execution.

  • Relationship management experience with members, clients, or donors. You build trust quickly and know how to keep a relationship warm between big moments.

  • Entrepreneurial: comfortable operating independently and building programs from scratch in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.

  • Comfortable interfacing with subject matter experts, government staff, senior elected officials, and other high-profile members and donors.

  • A strong internal collaborator who complements a team that's already strong in program vision/strategy and in logistics/follow-through. You bring the communications, event-production, and relationship-management muscle that rounds it out.

  • Experience with relevant tools: Airtable, Google Workspace, Canva, WhatsApp, WordPress, and a CRM/marketing platform (we use Attio, Luma, YAMM and ActiveCampaign).

  • Experience working with Claude or other AI tools, or a strong desire to learn. We're an AI-forward team and look to our Program Managers to help extend that capability across the organization.

  • Nice to have: experience in some element of local government, as a staff member, former elected official, or in a role adjacent to local office.

Final offer will also vary based on the candidate's experience and how program scope is ultimately assigned. The recommended Bay Area benchmark for this role is $105,000 – $140,000.For candidates based outside the Bay Area, we adjust this range using a cost-of-living percentage for the candidate's specific location.
